Boeing AvionX is seeking an Associate Avionics Software Engineer (Embedded Systems) to join a small and innovative team developing avionics systems for commercial aircraft in a Linux/C++ environment. This unique and exciting position will support multiple new and existing development programs. The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter, comfortable working alone, in teams, and with geographically diverse stakeholders. This position can sit out of any of site locations Berkeley MO, North Charleston SC, Huntington Beach CA, Seal Beach CA, Long Beach CA, Germantown MD, El Segundo CA, Mesa AZ, Oklahoma City OK, Huntsville AL, Plano TX, San Antonio TX, Herndon VA, Ridley Park PA, or Chicago IL.
Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system.
Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
Performs software project management and software supplier management functions.
Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics.
Executes and documents software research and development projects.
Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.
Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.
Works under general direction.
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. US Person includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
Experience with embedded systems and/or developing software (C, C++)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience work with DO-178C at any level
E xperience with airplane communications standards such as ethernet, wireless networking, or similar technology
Experience with either C++ and/or on the Linux Operating Systems
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
