The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Engineer for the Space Launch System (SLS) Program on the Ground System and Integration (GS&I) Team located in Huntsville, Alabama .
This is a software position that will focus on the development/modification and maturation of the Core Stage and/or Exploration Upper Stage (EUS), Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) Test Flight Computer (FC) software or MTFC software, and/or the Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) software.
The MTFC Software is developed to check out the Flight Computers, supports the testing and qualification of the Avionics hardware, and the factory acceptance testing of the stage(s) at Michould Assembly Facility. The MTFC application is developed on RTOS (VX Works ARINC) and implements some code from the NASA Flight Software.
The EGSE Software is also developed to support Avionics HW testing as well as the rocket factory acceptance testing at MAF. The EGSE provides the power controls, RF stimulation, communication stimulation, and data recording for the acceptance testing at MAF.
Activities will include software code/test and requirements verification with Hardware in the Loop and or Simulations of the Avionics equipment; test asset platform development which may include driver refinement/configuration development, avionics modeling and simulations compatibility resolution with the test platform architecture, creation of test scripts, lab view models and simulations development and enhancements. You will be a part of a team of Software and Hardware engineers, with a lead team engineer creating a mentor/mentee relationship.
The candidate will code/unit test, process problems and anomaly resolution(s), support product reviews and reports results to team leads and management; provide support for inputs to change proposals; may provide critical support of fielded software over the entire product lifecycle.
Support test planning and testing for the verification and validation of the software product.
Support research into technology advances for potential application to company business needs (e.g. automated builds, deploy, testing and test data analysis)
Support the software process to maintain a robust and auditable software version control and release process, to include problem reporting and resolution, Corrective and Preventative Action reporting, requirements verification, performance validation, and product release.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. US Person includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
1+ years experience in software development
1+ years educational or work experience testing or programming software written in C or C++
1+ years experience conducting verification, test, and/or data analysis.
1+ years collaborating with engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
1+ years of experience in software development in a Linux/Redhawk CentOS/Windows environment and/or VxWorks RTOS
1+ years of experience in computer Hardware and Software (Driver/Firmware) experience in troubleshooting platform conflicts and anomalies.
1+ years of experience in Lab View.
1+ years of experience with Agile software development environment, BASP process is a plus.
1+ years of experience with Software control applications such as Subversion, PCVS, GIT
1+ years of experience with anomaly reporting (e.g. problem reports or issues) and resolution (Version one, PCVS, or similar).
1+ year(s) of experience with Eclipse (or similar) IDE.
Experience with RF communications, 1553 communications, 422 communications.
1+ year(s) application experience with Models and Simulation development, to include validation of the simulation, as well as the calibration of the simulation for actual hardware performance/function comparative testing and analysis.
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master) in software development and or testing. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
