Job Summary ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION: IT OperationsEngineers coordinate the integration, deployment, sustainment,maintenance, and operations of systems and/or services in the hostenterprise architecture and NGA. They provide IT support for GEOINToperations and are accounspan for the overall success ofintegration projects, ensuring alignment with Agency priorities andbusiness strategies (e.g., strategic plans, life-cycle managementplans, investment plans). They oversee and monitor thedocumentation, validation, accreditation, and authorizationprocesses necessary to ensure that new information technologysystems meet information assurance and security requirementsprescribed by NGA and/or mission partners. Additional JobInformation ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: NGA's Directorate ofExpeditionary Operations (DOE) seeks a self-motivated, enthusiasticIT Operations Engineer with a wide range of technical education andexperience to serve in the Expeditionary Support Technology Branch(DOEST). An IT Operations Engineer with NGA, ensures NGA serviceswill integrate, deploy, and operate systems within the command andcomponent external architecture. This includes coordinating withNGA services to enable access on multiple networks and domains.Also managing limited resources and streamlining processes toenable GEOINT capabilities at a dynamic and high tempo environment.The IT Operations Engineer must provide in-depth and uniqueknowledge of GEOINT architecture(s) and supporting infrastructureand possess a strong skill set in areas of critical thinking,multi-tasking and working independently as well as with a team aswell as an in-depth technical knowledge of industry standardservers, desktop software and hardware to field complex GEOINTworkstation and server systems; deployed. The IT OperationsEngineer must participate in short and long term CONUS and OCONUSdeployments to install, configure, and maintain desktop and serversystems, desktop NAS units, printer/plotters, VOIPS, local areanetworks, as well as tactical SATCOM and terrestrial communicationssystems. * Must meet CONUS short term and world-wide long termdeployment requirements (including medical evaluation) and must beable to deploy worldwide for at least 120 days per year to supportoperations in crisis areas. * Be available to participate in shortnotice TDYs to include the following: CONUS Crisis support, sitesurveys, equipment installs, equipment recaps, andtroubleshooting/resolving equipment issues. * Must be willing andable to complete requirements for a state issued CommercialDriver's License within 90 days of filling the position. Mandatory Qualifications MANDATORYQUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants mustmeet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory QualificationCriteria to include education (if required). Education: Bachelor's degree from anaccredited college or university in Computer Science, ComputerSystems Engineering, Information Science, Information SystemsManagement, Engineering, Engineering Management, Mathematics,Operations Research, Statistics, Technology Management, or degreethat provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of thefields identified above and required the development or adaptationof applications, systems, or networks. -OR- B. Combination ofEducation and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter)hours of coursework in any area listed in option A, plus experiencein IT operations, system engineering, system testing andevaluation, IT project management, or a related area thatdemonstrates the ability to successfully perform the dutiesassociated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year ofexperience. Candidates should show that their combination ofeducation and experience totals 4 years. -OR- C. Experience: Aminimum of 4 years of experience in IT operations, systemengineering, system testing and evaluation, IT project management,or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfullyperform the duties associated with this work. -AND-LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: DAWIA certification may be required forthis position; see Position License and Certification Requirementsbelow for additional details. New Acquisition Workforce members orcurrent members transitioning to a new acquisition career field orhigher skill level have 24 months to achieve certification. -AND-Relevant Competencies: IT-related experience demonstrating each ofthe four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, OralCommunication, and Problem Solving. Highly Desired QualificationsQUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatoryqualifications, experience in the following is desired: *Experience with Satellite Communications desire 1-2 years ofexperience and Host and Network based security solutions. *Scripting of system administration tasks using Powershell/BASH orsimilar. * Data manipulation and visualization with Python and orMicrosoft Excel. * Knowledge of current standards and trends indesktop and server hardware to include network attached storage. *Ability to research technical solutions to generalized ITrequirements for both desktop and service based requirements. *Active TS/SCI security Clearance. Additional Job Requirements Youmust be able to obtain and retain a Top Secret security clearancewith access to Sensitive Compartmented Information. In addition,you are subject to a Counterintelligence Polygraph examination inorder to maintain access to Top Secret information. All employeesare subject to a periodic examination on a random basis in order todetermine continued eligibility. Refusal to take the examinationmay result in denial of access to Top Secret information, SAP,and/or unescorted access to SCIFs. Employees with SCI access andwho are under NGA cognizance are required to submit a SecurityFinancial Disclosure Report, SF-714, on an annual basis in order todetermine continued eligibility.
