Additive Manufacturing enables value to Boeing by enhancing products with novel design solutions. The Boeing Additive Manufacturing (BAM) organization is seeking a high performing Manufacturing Engineer to develop, coordinate production manufacturing plans and contribute innovative solutions to support metal laser powder bed additive product development. The Manufacturing Engineer would support additive manufacturing parameter development, facilitate machine qualification to enterprise specifications, develop process documentation, resolve complex technical problems related to machine characterization, and propose projects to improve additive machines/processes to enable Boeing to be a world class leader in Additive Manufacturing.
Metal additive laser powder bed process parameter development
Build file and machine parameters setup
Technical expert for equipment hardware and software maintenance
Support with data/documentation for machine qualification
Generate machine qualification test plans
Collaboration with machine OEM to drive process improvements
Create and develop manufacturing and process control documents
Create and develop machine calibration plans
Machine and material alloy change contamination avoidance plan
Perform Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) and Technical Readiness Level (TRL) assessments
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. US Person includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee .
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
6+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing
Experience with metallurgical additive manufacturing
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience in aerospace manufacturing or related field
Experience with metallic Additive Manufacturing
Experience authoring and developing processes, documents and procedures
Hands on experience with EOS laser powder bed equipment
Knowledge of laser and optics systems
Knowledge of machine Key Process Variables (KPVs)
Knowledge of additive part and machine qualification
Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
