The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Front-End SW Engineer to join the Autonomous Maritime Undersea team located in Herndon, VA . This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

We are looking for a Maritime Undersea Senior Front-End SW Engineer with a passion of combining the art of design with the craft of programming that values the importance of great user experience, and has deep expertise in front end technologies. The ideal candidate has expertise in modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, VueJs etc…), and a solid understanding of microservice architectures.

The role is as part of the Maritime Undersea organization supporting national security missions for many Department of Defense and Intelligence Community agencies. The software engineer will be part of an agile team decomposing legacy, monolithic applications into microservice, cloud native solution that target an enhanced user experience for our customers. Responsibilities will include development of UI/UX design wireframes and translating them into new user-facing features that provide enhanced user experience, build reusable code and libraries, ensure optimal flow with backend services in alignment with API requirements, employ responsive design and knowledge of cross browser testing and debugging to ensure optimal experience across devices.

Primary Responsibilities:
Work in agile team environment to develop, test and deploy software

Use responsive design to provide an optimal experience across all devices

Create rich, interactive user experiences with modern technologies with a focus on performance, scalability, security and maintainability

Design and develop highly scalable APIs and services

Write clean, scalable code

Work to set up and enhance CI/CD environment

Perform code reviews and provide feedback on code quality and best practices

Develop documentation and design materials

Take responsibility for technical problem solving, creatively meeting product objectives, and developing best practices

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires an active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active) and ability to obtain SCI Post-Start.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Top Secret Clearance and ability to obtain SCI post-start

Experience with at least one modern client side JavaScript framework or library (React, Angular, Vue etc)

Experience with microservice architecture and ability to design, develop and implement scalable, elastic microservices

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Backend development experience

Knowledge of Object Oriented Principles and Design Patterns

Working knowledge of Containerization/Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift

DevOps experience building CI/CD pipelines

Test Automation

Knowledge of Cloud

Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

Experience working in an Agile/Scrum-like environment

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience)
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Travel: 10-20%

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. (Basic relocation is available for internal candidates, based on candidate eligibility.)
