Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a mid-level Product Review Engineer in Seal Beach, CA.

This position requires flexibility in work hours, but generally the work shifts adhere to a 7 days on and 7 days off schedule. Typically work days start at noon and end at midnight or start at midnight and end at noon. The position is within the Boeing Operations Center, which supports Airline fleets with a 24/7/365 operation.

This position requires periodic work schedule changes across the various shifts to meet operational needs. Selected applicants must be willing to commit to working any work schedule required to balance staffing requirements on each shift.

As part of the Product Review Engineering Team, the engineer will:
Address maintenance and repair issues which specifically threaten or prevent the safe and profitable operation of in-service Boeing aircraft
Apply broad knowledge of Boeing design and/or engineering principles.
Assess and resolve product/process issues through the product life cycle.
Develop and implement product/process improvements
Lead research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by customer
Designs interim and final engineering solutions
Lead others to analyze, conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for design non-conformances
Use innovative approaches and unique applications to address complex nonconforming conditions and detect deviations
Analyze reported problems for potential safety issues
Represent the engineering community in the build through post production environment
Ensure supplier and build partner compliance with Boeing standards
Lead activities for on-site disabled product repair teams
Design appropriate jacking and shoring schemes
Lead the design of interim structural repairs and conducts static strength analysis
Develop and lead non-destructive test procedures, tools and standards
Develop and implement technical training curriculum for internal or external customers
Develop minor structural repairs on all Boeing and MD series models.
Secondary point of contact for calls and BCS requests from customers or FSRs when primary support is unavailable
Perform review of the requests and determine the best avenue for resolution
Develop solutions utilizing sound repair logic, experience, and previous data
Correspond with Operators thru BCS, e-mail, telephone, and Multiple Operator Messages.
Assist primary supporters prioritize and sort work to engage the best avenue for resolution
Collaborate with other support groups in the Ring and/or external support groups to develop solutions
Send RFS to external support teams when issue requires more extensive research
Communicate with customer if additional information is needed or roadblock arises
Provide troubleshooting assistance via telephone
Review outgoing messages for quality
Initiate proactive solution
Analyze repairs and/or damage and develop substantiation of action
Develop substantiation package for repairs and/or fly-on limits
Oversee documentation of hardware related problems
Identify the need for technical training
Participate in accident investigation support teams
Manage performance of critical suppliers to ensure product integration and compliance with requirements
Conduct program independent reviews and reports results to program leadership

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics
3+ years of aircraft design and/or repair experience
3+ years of customer interface experience

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master + 3 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
