Job Summary:

The School of Science at Marist College is pleased to invite applications for a full-time faculty position in Medical Laboratory Science starting Fall 2024. The Medical Technology Department's academic mission is immeasurably enriched by an inclusive community in which diverse perspectives are respected and valued. This position can be either a Professional Lecturer (non-tenure track) or a tenure-track Assistant Professor based on the candidate's qualifications and interest. Successful candidates should have expertise in and the ability to teach Hematology as well as other Medical Laboratory Science courses, especially an introductory course in Medical Technology. Experience in undergraduate education is preferred. Responsibilities include teaching lecture and lab; facilitating clinical rotations, maintaining a program of scholarly activity (tenure-track position only) and participation in college service.
The successful candidate will join a well-established (30+ years) program that is NAACLS accredited (most recently in 2019) and focused on providing an excellent education for students seeking careers in the medical laboratory sciences. They will also work closely with students, clinical affiliate faculty, and departmental faculty. Prior teaching experience is desirable; however, candidates with promise and enthusiasm for becoming a skilled teacher are strongly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • National certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist
  • PhD in Medical Laboratory Science or related field (Assistant Professor) or a Master's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or closely related field (Professional Lecturer)
  • Experience as a bench technologist, including in hematology
  • Strong desire to teach undergraduates
  • Ability to create and maintain active program of scholarly activities (tenure track-position)
  • Essential Functions:

  • Plan, organize, and instruct assigned courses to promote student success
  • Take part in professional activity (Professional Lecturer or scholarship (Assistant Professor)
  • Perform service to department, school, college and community as necessary
  • Support program and college accreditation efforts
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    A doctorate in an appropriate field, and teaching experience at the community college level or higher. Experience in clinical education or translational medicine research is a plus.

    The Medical Technology Department is located in the Allied Health Building, a 58,000 ft2 facility constructed in 2016 for biology and allied health graduate and undergraduate programs.
