L3HARRIS – Communication Systems East (L3HARRIS CS-East) is a recognized global leader in the design, development and production of secure communication systems and products supporting mission-critical space, ground, air and naval operations. We are committed to providing best-in-class solutions to our customers with the highest level of integrity, excellence and uncompromised quality in everything we do.

The Position

The Senior Electrical Engineer (EE) will be part of the key engineering team and may be responsible for all or part of the end-to-end design and development of high-speed digital electronic modules and circuit boards. S/he may review and derive hardware requirements, develop design concepts that meet requirements, perform detailed electrical design of circuitry that may include microprocessors, program and data memories, FPGAs, voltage regulators, power reset sequencers, analog circuitry, and interface transceiver circuits. Designs are captured as schematic diagrams in our CAD tool, design reviewed, and then handed off to our ECAD department for layout and routing on a printed wiring board (PWB). The fabricated PWB is populated with components by our on-campus assembly facility. The EE may then test and verify the electronics assembly, followed by support for firmware and software integration. Our engineers are involved in the full lifecycle, from product design and qualification to manufacturing and integration. Our rigorous design review and documentation process includes requirements specifications, design documents, and test plans and procedures.

Position Requirements

The successful candidate(s) must have:

  • BSEE required; MSEE preferred;

  • 10 years minimum applicable experience required

  • Recent experience in digital and analog circuit board design and test

  • Experience with industry standard EDA tools, Mentor Graphics Expedition preferred

  • Experience using laboratory test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.)

  • Experience with standard electronic interfaces, such as

    • I2C, USB, RS-232, Ethernet (e.g. 1000BASE-T), SATA, PCIe

    • Strong writing skills

    • Experience in the design of voltage regulators and power supplies for today’s high current FPGAs

    • Experience in the design of NSA Type 1 approved cryptographic products

    • High speed electrical interfaces (e.g. LVDS, PCIe, CEI-28G-VSR)

    • Embedded microprocessor and microcontrollers

    • FPGA embedment – Intel and Xilinx preferred

    • U.S. Citizenship required.

    • Current possession of a US Government Secret security clearance preferred.
