We’re seeking a Senior Propulsion Engineer (Level 5) to join our team in Huntington Beach, California or St.Louis, Missouri

This role is for a senior engineer who will be the technical leader of a team of propulsion engineers performing propulsion technology research and development based on government funded or company sponsored technology development and maturation priorities. Projects could include both defense and commercial applications. The role would also include coaching and mentoring early and mid-career engineers.

Position Responsibilities:
Shapes strategy and policy at an organizational level on all aspects of propulsion system, auxiliary power system and fuel system design, integration, testing and certification

Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. Leads multidisciplinary, multi-program or multi-system integration efforts to support propulsion design definition certification and validation

Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and programs

Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies

Provides consultation across the business unit with regard to propulsion integration

Identifies the need for new tools and processes

Works under consultative direction

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

10+ years of propulsion engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Master’s degree or higher in mechanical or aerospace engineering

Experience working with government customers on contracts for research & development

Experience in configuring propulsion systems and airplane design

Experience in analytical and design tools

Experience as a team lead

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
