A successful candidate will be an experienced and motivated Senior Robotics Technologist or Engineer that is an enterprise technical leader, mentor, and consultant. They will lead research and development (R&D) by rapidly prototyping advanced robotics systems for automated and autonomous aerospace products. They will have broad knowledge of robotics systems including sensing, planning, reasoning, guidance, navigation, control, and actuation. They will be comfortable in taking initiative, learning from others and by experience, seeking feedback, and creating innovative ideas. They will get great satisfaction in applying and engineering solutions that will work in the real world. This job will be located in Seattle WA or Huntsville, AL
Leads technically the development and design of robotics approaches and solutions
Designs and develops advanced robotic systems for aerospace products
Performs advanced robotics research: decision making & planning, control schemes, image processing and fusion, distributed control, sensory data, perceived environment model, and human-machine interfaces.
Develops robotic development roadmaps and architectures to meet long-term business needs
Designs, develops, and evaluates algorithms, models and architected systems.
Adapts and integrates various hardware and software capabilities into workable prototypes
Implements software agents and software programs to satisfy requirements.
Is aware of the latest advances in modeling and simulation.
Effectively communicates results to teammates, management, and customers.
Demonstrates an interest in personal learning and development.
Seeks feedback from multiple sources to improve and develop.
Comfortable in taking initiative and learning by experience.
Uses safety practices and reinforces a safety first culture The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. US Person includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
10+ years of software development experience
7+ years developing controls and robotics systems
Experience with high level programming languages such a C++, C, Java
Experience with Robot Operating System (ROS) or equivalent
Experience with Linux OS
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
B.S. degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
Masters degree or higher preferred in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
Experience with sensors (cameras, LiDAR, GPS-IMU), embedded systems, and system integration related physical systems
Proficient in cross-disciplinary areas including statistics, pattern recognition, cognitive science, data mining, adaptive control and computer science
Experience with routing, motion planning, and robot/vehicle control, maps, localization, perception, and prediction
Experience in pattern recognition, multi-modal sensor data fusion, sensor calibration and visualization technologies
Knowledge of machine learning model development and evaluation
Proficient with Computer Vision techniques
Experience with software lifecycle practices, agile methodology, and repositories, such as JIRA and Git
Publications in robotic related topics
Typical Education & Experience:
Typically 14 or more years related work experience or relevant military experience. Advanced degree (eg. bachelor, master, etc) preferred but not required.
This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
