The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization, Space and Launch Division is seeking an Associate Systems Engineer Support Analyst (Level 2) to join our team in Herndon, VA. Our Space and Launch Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

Position Overview:
The Associate Systems Engineer Support Analyst will be a part of a high-performing team that are immersed in high intensity development projects. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to assist with analyses, design, development and verification of a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. This position will assist with analyses to evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. This role will include various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Assists with analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.

Execute independent tasks to complete and track assigned tasks under the guidance of a lead.

Collaborate with mentor and after a six-month period, work assigned projects nearly independently with periodic guidance from their mentor.

Communicate with their mentor/lead on project/task status and progress.

Perform basic analytical data analysis and management to facilitate customer access and use.

Perform engineering and operational functions supporting customer needs utilizing customized software suites.

Obtain system operations certification via knowledge-based learning and on-the-job training.

Ability to certify and cross train in other program areas as required.

Work Authorization:
This position requires an active U.S. TS/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

1 year or more of experience with basic use of Microsoft (MS) Office Tools.

Experience or knowledge with a broad range of systems engineering disciplines.

Willing to perform some call-in responsibilities during off hours and perform weekend work to include a 24/7 rotating shift on a frequency of 1 week per quarter.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience or knowledge of Web-based tools such as SharePoint.

Knowledge of the Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process or other engineering problem resolution/solution process.

Experience or knowledge with basic systems engineering principles used to solve engineering problems and also an understanding of standard problem-solution methodologies and tools (Fishbone, 5-Why, etc.).

Experience or knowledge with system engineering applications for data management and data processing to include product generation, metrics analysis, archive, and retrieval.

Experience or knowledge with image products to include the ability to investigate product issues and provide a summary of any sources of error found throughout the processing chain.

Experience or knowledge with exposure to scientific methods and quantitative analysis for processing remote sensing data products to include signal processing methodologies.

Experience or knowledge with a wide range of remote sensing data and products to include the ability to use applicable data algorithms.

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
